The Potter’s wheel: make your own cup
In this four-week course, you will develop the basic technique of wheel thrown pottery.
During this process (day 1 & 2)you will learn to center your piece on the wheel and change it into a cylinder, the basic shape from which most other shapes get created (cups, bowls, vases, etc..)
After the process of throwing, we will get into the trimming/turning phase (day 3) where we will finish our piece with specialised tools and decorate them (carving, slibs, underglaze,…)
The last phase (day 4) is glazing your piece. There are different techniques for glazing. We will discuss them and then practice on our own cup.

4-week The potter’s wheel course

Handbuilding course with Karine Hilaire
In this four-week course, you will develop pinching and coiling skills, the two most traditional hand building techniques.
During this process you will discover the clay’s properties and how to build different forms and shapes using your hands and specific tools.
Once your piece is created, we will experiment with various decorating techniques like impressing, sgraffito, inlaying … and glazing.
Throughout the course we will take inspiration from Portuguese as well as international famous ceramicists.
This inclusive course is open to all levels and focuses on learning through creativity and fun.
